The Buggles Shirt
handpainted by Annie Sinclair

For my birthday one year, Annie painted me this shirt, inspired by the Buggles first album, "The Age of Plastic." The cover featured stylized pictures of the two band members, Geoff Downes and Trevor Horn. This shirt features the pictures of Geoff Downes on the back, and a quote from J.G. Ballard on the front.

Also, the entire neck and yoke of the shirt have been painted to be the shirt worn my the band members in their portraits. I prefer to wear this shirt with a skinny leather tie, actually left over from my New Wave high school days.

The image on the left shows the back portrait more closely. This part was actually painted on another piece of white fabric, and then sewn onto the shirt that had the collar and yoke painted.

The quote on the front of the shirt (seen in more detail below) is taken from J.G. Ballard's short story "The Sound Sweep", rumored to be the story that inspired 'Video Killed the Radio Star'.
